Peter Love named to Canada’s 2014 Clean50 http://loveenergyconsultants.com/?p=275 http://loveenergyconsultants.com/?p=275#comments Tue, 08 Oct 2013 03:36:11 +0000 plove http://loveenergyconsultants.com/?p=275 (Toronto, ON, September 19, 2013) Peter Love has been named to Canada’s 2014 Clean50. Peter is honoured in the category: Traditional Energy Generation & Retailers.

Peter is a “lifer” when it comes to electrifying the push to greater energy efficiency and is a leading advocate for a culture of conservation. He currently is President of the Energy Services Association of Canada, which advocates performance-based solutions to major energy efficiency retrofits. As Adjunct Professor at York University’s Faculty of Environmental Studies, he has developed and teaches senior level courses on energy and environmental policy.

In his previous role as Ontario’s first Chief Energy Conservation Officer, Peter was a leading advocate for energy conservation across the Province and played a key role in convincing the Ontario government to increase the minimum energy efficiency standards in the province’s building code. The new code, among the most stringent in North America, came into effect in 2012 and is expected to result in electricity savings of about 500 MW by 2014. This has resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in additional sales of insulation and other cleantech energy efficiency products.

“Being named to Canada’s 2014 Clean50 is a great honour,” remarked Love. “All of the people with whom I have worked with over the years, and who have  been dedicated to driving innovation in promoting a culture of conservation, share with me the satisfaction of seeing the change in awareness and understanding of the need to find ways to reduce our consumption of energy.”

Peter serves on the Board of Directors of Yield Energy, a leader in waste to energy technology, and International Solar Solutions, developer of an innovative solar powered attic vent. He also serves as a volunteer cleantech Advisor at MaRS, as Chair of Rethink Sustainability, on the Executive Committee of the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science and is active with Civic Action’s Greening Greater Toronto and the Commercial Building Energy Leadership Council’s Race to Reduce.

Canada’s Clean50 Awards (www.clean50.com) are announced annually by Delta Management Group to recognize those 50 individuals or small teams, from 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past 2 years.

“Honourees are chosen after rigourous screening and research by Delta Management, with advice from internal researchers and external advisors, and are selected from an initial pool of nearly 500 well qualified candidates,” explained Gavin Pitchford, Chief Talent Officer, Delta Management Group. “The Clean50 come from such a broad background that only a few individuals are recognized within any given category. To be one of them is truly indicative of industry leadership in that category.”

Peter Love will be among approximately 100 past and present Clean50 Honourees meeting next week at the “Clean50 Summit 3.0″ to spend a day among peers and colleagues tackling common sustainability challenges.
